NLP Leader Highlights Double Standards and Unfulfilled Commitments of the National Conference
Srinagar: Mohammad Yaqoob Dunoo, Central Kashmir Incharge of the National Loktantrik Party (NLP), has issued a scathing critique of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, accusing him of failing to fulfill his election promises.
In a statement released today, Dunoo highlighted the “double standards” of the National Conference, particularly concerning electricity tariffs. He pointed out that the party’s election manifesto made no mention of providing 200 units of free electricity after the full installation of electricity meters in Jammu and Kashmir. “This is yet another example of the party’s two-faced policies,” Dunoo said, accusing the National Conference of misleading the public.
Yaqoob Dunoo also referred to a recent press conference at SKICC, where Omar Abdullah stated that his government could not fully meet its responsibilities without the restoration of full statehood. “If he knew he couldn’t address the aspirations of the people under the current political status, why did he contest the elections in the first place?” Dunoo questioned.
The NLP leader accused Omer Abdullah of playing with the emotions and hopes of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He further listed several unfulfilled promises made during Abdullah’s election campaign, including commitments to economic revival, improved public services, and infrastructure development.
Dunoo called for greater accountability and transparency from political leaders, urging the public to demand results. “The people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve leaders who prioritize their welfare over hollow promises,” he asserted.
This criticism comes amid growing public dissatisfaction with the state government’s performance on issues such as electricity, employment, and governance. Dunoo’s remarks are likely to resonate with voters as the region gears up for the upcoming assembly elections.
