Srinagar, 22 Jan:National Loktantrik Party (NLP) Chief Spokesperson Mohammad Yaqoob Dunoo has launched a scathing attack on National Conference (NC) President Dr. Farooq Abdullah over his recent remarks regarding Article 370. Abdullah had claimed that the Maharajas in 1927 introduced Article 370 to safeguard the land of Dogras and not for Kashmiri Muslims.
Dunoo dismissed Abdullah’s statement as “misleading and baseless,” demanding evidence to substantiate the claim. “In which book is it written that the Maharajas introduced Article 370 in 1927 to protect the land of Dogras? Who is the author of this book?” Dunoo questioned, accusing Abdullah of fabricating historical facts.
The NLP spokesperson further criticized the NC for failing to honor its election promises of restoring Article 370 and 35A. “The NC’s manifesto clearly stated their commitment to fight for Article 370 and 35A. What happened to those promises now? Abdullah’s statements seem to be an attempt to divert attention from the party’s failures,” he remarked.
Dunoo alleged that the NC leadership was trying to mislead the public by making “absurd claims” and failing to address real issues. “They assured the people that they would restore Article 370 and 35A, but their actions have proven otherwise. Now, their hollow rhetoric appears to be nothing but a case of “Angoor khatte hai” (Grapes are Sour),” he said.
Highlighting the need for genuine leadership, Dunoo urged voters to hold political leaders accountable. “The people of Jammu and Kashmir must see through these empty statements and choose leaders who truly work for their welfare, rather than those who exploit their emotions,” he stated.
Dunoo’s criticism comes at a time when political tensions are rising in Jammu and Kashmir, with ULB and panchayat elections expected to be announced soon. The remarks add to the ongoing debate about accountability and the future political direction of the region.
