1. The India Meteorological Department has forecast Dense fog conditions during the night and early morning hours in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh.
2. The President Smt Droupadi Murmu arrived at Bhubaneswar yesterday evening on a two-day visit to her home state Odisha. The President was accorded a warm welcome by Governor of Odisha Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and other senior dignitaries at the Biju Patnaik International Airport.
3. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has requested all states and Union Territories to organize a 100-day intensified campaign on tuberculosis (TB) elimination in prisons and correctional institutions, as part of the central government’s commitment to eliminating the disease from the country.
4. Around ten thousand Special Guests have been invited to witness the Republic Day Parade this year. These guests include Sarpanchs, Disaster Relief Workers, Best Performing Water Warriors, Handloom and Handicraft Artisans, Mann Ki Baat Participants, My Bharat Volunteers, Guests from North Eastern States, and Best Start-Ups. The Defence Ministry has said, some of the invited guests are carrying out exemplary work to ensure income and employment generation through Self-Help Groups.
5. Over two crore 70 lakh registrations have been received from students, teachers, and parents across the country and abroad for the 8th edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha 2025. The online registration for the program, hosted on the MyGov.in portal, commenced on the 14th of last month. It will remain open till the 14th of this month.

7. Mahakumbh 2025 will be held from 13th January to 26th February at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh.
8. The Minister of State for Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh chaired a high-level review of ISRO’s major upcoming space missions including India’s first “uncrewed” orbital mission under “Gaganyaan”.
9. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said that organic farming has become a powerful medium for generating better income and employment. Launching the 8th edition of the National Program for Organic Production in New Delhi, Mr Goyal stated that the income of farmers has increased through organic farming.
10. The Telangana State government has announced plans to enhance women’s empowerment by setting up solar power plants through self-help groups, aiming to generate Thousands of MW of electricity. Each MW of solar power requires four acres of land, and approximately 4000 acres need to be identified for the same.

    Railway officials said.
12. The Anji Khad Rail Bridge, located in Reasi district, Jammu and Kashmir, is India’s first cable-stayed rail bridge. It is part of the ambitious Udampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) Project. This project aims to enhance connectivity in the region, which is crucial for both economic development and tourism. The bridge spans a total length of 725.5 metres.
13. The Uttar Pradesh government has partnered with Google Cloud to introduce a groundbreaking agricultural network. This initiative, powered by Google’s Gemini framework and the Beckn Protocol, aims to provide farmers with comprehensive access to essential services.
14. In a bid to promote rooftop solar power in economically weaker sections (EWS) of society in Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnasiv government will bring a new policy in a fortnight. The state government will give subsidies to purchase solar panels on line of the central government’s “PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana” to consumers from weaker sections.
15. The Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai has forecast that the cyclonic circulation over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Equatorial Indian Ocean will trigger a rainspell of moderate intensity at a few places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry from Saturday to January 14.

    is being observed today i.e., on 10 January 2025. According to the Hindu calendar, Vaikuntha Ekadashi occurs during the Dhanur solar month. It is auspicious for Vaishnavism followers as it is believed that ‘Vaikuntha Dwaram’ that is the gateway to Lord Vishnu’s abode, opens up on this day. 1. A day after six persons died in the Tirupati stampede, the Andhra Pradesh government on Thursday announced a judicial inquiry into the incident that seems to have been the result of a policeman’s innocuous act of opening the gate with the intention of aiding a sick woman.
2. Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed a batch of pleas seeking to review its October 2023 verdict declining legal sanction to same-sex marriage.
3. Judgement in the rape and murder of an on-duty doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in August last year will be delivered on January 18 by the designated judge of Sealdah court.
4. The Supreme Court of India reiterated that ownership of immovable property can only be legally transferred through a registered sale deed, as required under Section 54 of the Transfer of Property Act, 1882, and Section 17 of the Registration Act, 1908. The judgment was delivered in the case of Sanjay Sharma vs. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Civil Appeal No. _/2024), bringing clarity to the legal framework.
5. Tarsem Singh, father of Independent MP and ‘Waris Punjab De’ chief Amritpal Singh, criticised the imposition of the Unlawful Activities and Prevention Act (UAPA) on his son, calling it a “conspiracy” to stop the jailed MP’s family from launching a political party.
6. The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Thursday questioned the former minister and MLA K T Rama Rao for seven hours at the ACB’s headquarters in Banjara Hills in connection with the Formula E racing irregularities case.

1. In Assam, specialised Indian Navy divers continue their rescue efforts with advanced technology to evacuate at least eight workers trapped at the coal mine in Umrangso in Dima Hasao. Yesterday, the divers retrieved the body of a trapped coal miners from the flooded mine.
2. The President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have expressed grief over the loss of lives during a stampede at Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. In a social media post, the President extended her condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.
3. One labourer was killed and another injured after a silo collapsed at a smelting plant in Chhattisgarh’s Mungeli district on Thursday.

   while chairing a review meeting at the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) in New Delhi, that the government is committed to transforming the Indian Police Forces into SMART forces to successfully meet the challenges of policing as well as internal security.
3. On January 9, 2025, the Indian Navy officially took delivery of its sixth and final Scorpene-class submarine, named INS Vaghsheer, from Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL). This milestone marks the conclusion of the Project 75 program, which began with a contract signed in 2005 for six submarines built with French collaboration.
4. The Indian Army is set to prominently showcase its indigenous weaponry during the upcoming Republic Day parade on January 26, 2025. This year’s display will include a range of advanced systems that reflect India’s commitment to self-reliance in defence technology.
5. The Sukhoi Su-57 “Felon,” Russia’s advanced fifth-generation stealth fighter, has been officially confirmed to participate in Aero India 2025, which will take place from February 10 to 14, 2025, at the Air Force Station in Yelahanka, Bangalore.

The Second shipment of 27,000 tons of rice from India to arrive in Bangladesh: Under the government’s open tender agreement, the second shipment of 27,000 tons of rice is scheduled to arrive today at Chattogram port from Kakinada port of Andhra Pradesh, India. The first shipment, which included 24,690 tonnes of parboiled rice from India, arrived at Chattogram Port on December 26.
4. US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti recently emphasized the united front of the United States and India in combating terrorism, stating that both nations must work collaboratively to address cross-border threats.
5. India has recently strengthened its defence ties with the Maldives by handing over defence equipment and stores valued at approximately ₹35 crore (over $4 million) during a bilateral meeting in New Delhi.

1. In the United States, the massive wildfires at the plush towns of California’s Los Angeles, has killed five people, burnt down thousands of structures and led to the evacuation of thousands. Nearly 150,000 people were under evacuation orders last night as the fires burned down 7,000 hectares.
2. The US-British coalition reportedly launched airstrikes on several parts of northern Yemen, including its capital, Sanaa.
3. In Bangladesh, four persons were killed and 15 others injured as a gas cylinder in an ambulance exploded following a collision with a bus in Savar on the Dhaka-Aricha highway.
