Kupwara, Jan 05 – In a spirited plea for action, Sheikh Tahira Bashir, the Mahila Congress District President of Kupwara, has raised her voice over the persistent electrical woes faced by residents in Shala mohalla Magam. Despite the replacement of nine transformers by the Power Development Department (PDD) Handwara, the transformer in Magam remains non-functional, leaving locals in the lurch.
“Enough is enough! We cannot let our community suffer in darkness while multiple transformers have been changed but the one in Magam continues to fail,” Sheikh Tahira stated passionately. “The people of Magam deserve reliable electricity, especially with the winter season approaching. It’s high time the authorities take immediate action to address this issue.”
Her remarks highlight the frustration felt by many in the area, as power outages have become a recurring problem that disrupts daily life and essential services. Sheikh Tahira is calling on the PDD to prioritize the repair and maintenance of the faulty transformer to ensure that the residents of Magam can enjoy uninterrupted electricity.
“The government needs to step up and fulfill its promise of providing basic amenities to the people. We are tired of temporary fixes; we demand a permanent solution!” she added emphatically.
